Important Information and Comparison Rate Warning

Base criteria of: a $400,000 loan amount, variable, fixed, principal and interest (P&I) home loans with an LVR (loan-to-value) ratio of at least 80%. However, the ‘Compare Home Loans’ table allows for calculations to be made on variables as selected and input by the user. Some products will be marked as promoted, featured or sponsored and may appear prominently in the tables regardless of their attributes. All products will list the LVR with the product and rate which are clearly published on the product provider’s website. Monthly repayments, once the base criteria are altered by the user, will be based on the selected products’ advertised rates and determined by the loan amount, repayment type, loan term and LVR as input by the user/you. *The Comparison rate is based on a $150,000 loan over 25 years. Warning: this comparison rate is true only for this example and may not include all fees and charges. Different terms, fees or other loan amounts might result in a different comparison rate. Rates correct as of .

How does the grant work?

The Quilpie Home Owner Grant, which was a first in Outback Queensland, was originally launched in 2021 and provided $12,500 in funding to eligible homebuyers.

Quilpie Shire CEO Justin Hancock said the initial grant watched the price of the blocks being sold at the time when the grant was rolled out.

“With land valuations rising, and council benefiting from that, and cost of living and interest rates also rising, we recognised that there was a need to increase our Home Owner Grant,” he said.

“Buying in Quilpie still represents exceptional value – and our new $20,000 grant will cover most of the price of their land if they build and live on it. We believe that this new $20,000 grant is the biggest on offer in Queensland.”

The original version of the grant saw seven blocks of land get sold.

The grant will be paid per new home and not to each applicant for the same home. It is developed to provide support to homebuyers and complement the other government grants available to homebuyers.

Who are eligible for the grant?

To be eligible for the grant, the applicant must:

  • Be an Australian Citizen or a permanent resident.
  • Be a new homeowner in the Quilpie Shire
  • Have a home that has never been occupied.
  • Reside in the home for at least first six months.

The grant may be applicable for relocated homes, which are houses that have been moved from another site to a vacant block of land and have been renovated.
