Consolidating the wider trend of mortgage brokers expanding their services to clients, national dealer group The Brokerage has expanded its services by offering general insurance products directly to their customer base.
Michael Osborne, director of The Brokerage, said the development was the result of an innovative relationship formed between The Brokerage and CGU Insurance.
"Much of the focus in the mortgage industry has been on life insurance and risk-related products but The Brokerage has been focusing on the natural fit between mortgaged security and general insurance.
"Every financial institution is seeking to cross-sell mortgage customers, so mortgage brokers must embrace related products and services if they're to maintain any depth of relationship with their customers."
Osborne said that those brokers who undertake relevant training would be able to promote home, contents, car and other general insurance products to customers, in addition to their traditional home loan advice.
