Researchers are finding more Australians let go of the solo housing lifestyle and resort to sharing residences with other people, as real estate prices soar in the country.
The latest analysis from the 2011 census data said the majority of Australian households comprised families, with just under one in four households occupied by a person living alone, reports The Daily Mail.
It also found that more women live alone than men, in addition to Australians with higher education, better jobs and higher incomes.
It also found that most middle-aged men who live alone had low levels of education and lower incomes. They are also not generally content with living alone.
The 2011 same census saw an unchanged figure since 2001, where 24% of all households in the country still comprise of a solo person.
