Maybe you’re a little short because car suddenly died, or perhaps there’s a special birthday coming up… whatever the event there’s no reason to break out the credit card. Here are some relatively quick and easy ways to make extra cash.
1.) Homestay
If you’ve got an extra room in your house, why join a homestay program? Homestay allows visiting students who want to experience Australia live with an Australian family. Not only does it give the student a chance to practice their English, but you’ll get a great international experience as well. Homestay families earn about $200 a week.
2.) Sell unwanted goods
Selling your old and unused items on eBay or Gumtree will help you clear clutter in your house and earn some extra money. I recently sold a wetsuit and surfboard for $400 that helped pay for new airconditioning in the car.
3.) Babysit
Everyone needs a night out once in awhile, and sometimes people just need someone to stay in while the baby sleeps. Qualified sitters earn between $20-25/hour. If you combine cleaning services with babysitting you can charge a little more!
4.) Online surveys
Not something you could quit your day job for, but a pretty easy way to earn money from home in the evenings. Never join a survey company that requires you to pay money – these are generally a scam. Also any survey promising huge bucks is also probably a scam. Expect to earn around $5 per survey. Other means of renumeration are prizes and points that can be redeemed for goods.
5.) Tutor
If you’ve got a particular language, music or academic skill, why not offer your services? Hourly rates are anywhere from $20 – $55 depending on the area of expertise. Check out www.tutorfinder.com.au to get an idea of the marketplace.
